Intro to Pronouns: A Guide for Library Staff
Wednesday, November 10, 2021, 11 AM
Presenter:
Hilary Umbreit
Adult Services Librarian, Morrill Memorial Library
This presentation provides an introductory look at gender and gender identity, with an emphasis on translating knowledge and awareness into concrete best practices in a library setting. Attendees can expect to come away with a better grasp of basic concepts around gender, gender identity, and pronouns, as well as why it is a vital topic in our society today. Tips for best practices are intended to give attendees concrete actions they can implement in order to better serve patrons and colleagues across the spectrum of gender identities.
Hilary Umbreit (they/them) is the Adult Services Librarian at Morrill Memorial Library in Norwood, MA. They earned their MLIS through Drexel University in 2014 and have been working in libraries over the span of ten years.
