Fall Conference & Business Meeting

Common Man Inn & Spa

Our Guest Speakers: Cassie Gillespie and Ty Gagne

I CAN'T SELF CARE MY WAY OUT OF THIS!

Morning Session with Cassie Gillespie

Moving beyond self-care to address workplace trauma exposure at the
organizational level. In this session Cassie will introduce
foundational concepts and a frame for thinking about chronic stress
(and what we can do about it) in the workplace. Chronic stress &
secondary trauma exposure in the workplace are insidious problems that
can lead to burnout, low morale, poor health, staff turnover, and
diminished outcomes. All too often organizations do not address
chronic stress, or only address it through the lens of self-care. This
session will focus heavily on the importance of collective care
strategies and is intended for all library staff.

Weather the Storm: Balancing Self-Care & Selflessness

Afternoon Session with Ty Gagne

So many of us have hosted Ty at our libraries as the author of the books; The Last Traverse: Tragedy and Resilience in the Winter Whites and Where You’ll Find Me: Risk, Decisions, and the Last Climb of Kate Matrosova. (Exciting news, he is currently working completing another book).

He is also the Chief Executive Officer of Primex3, has held executive positions in the municipal, non-profit, and healthcare sectors. He has designed this program to fit the theme of this conference.

She was an experienced hiker. She knew that the tracks ahead meant someone was in trouble. But little did she know they would lead to a rescue mission that has since become legendary. Weather the Storm is a real-life account of one hiker’s selfless act of courage and compassion, which sets the stage for an immersive and reflective session highlighting the critical importance of self-care while in the service of others. By the end of this session participants/attendees will leave with practical insights that can be applied in their personal and professional lives.
