Adult Programming 101

New to Adult Programming or seeking fresh ideas? Join Susan Harmon, Aimee Lockhardt, and Jane Martina for an introductory, hands-on Adult Programming workshop. This workshop, guided by the new READS Adult Programming Manual, will equip you with the skills to plan impactful programs for your library and provide you with a ready-to-use program, along with a toolkit of resources for future planning.

Please bring your laptop to this hands-on session.

Presenters:

Susan Harmon is the Head of Information & Technology at the Manchester City Library in Manchester, NH. She started her career in 2012, graduated from Simmons in 2013, began working at the Manchester library in 2015, and rose to lead her division in 2025. She’s been a programming librarian since 2019. She’s excited to share her knowledge with everyone passionate about program planning!

Aimee Lockhardt is the Community Engagement Librarian at Dover Public Library where she spends her days finding interesting programming, weird things to post on the library's social media pages, and coming up with creative ways to convince people to come to the library. Her enthusiasm for librarianship resulted in her being handed an empty notebook to put her ideas in instead of incessantly talking her coworkers' ears off about things. She has a BA in Journalism from the University of New Hampshire and MLIS from Syracuse University.

Jane Martina is the Adult & Information Services Librarian at the Hooksett Public Library. Over the past 15 years, she has worked in public, academic, and school libraries to find that her passion lies in Adult Services. For the past six years, she has been finding creative ways to reach adults both within and outside the library. During that time she has served on the READS Executive Board and worked with fellow NH Librarians to help create the READS Ad-Hoc Adult Programmers group in 2023 to create a comprehensive adult programming manual for NH Librarians. Jane holds an MLIS from Simmons University.
